Over the last twelve years, T.J. Maple has been Choreographing and Coaching Dance teams across Texas and beyond.  Over the past five years as Coach at SFA, Maple has transformed the squad from a traditional "Pom" squad that focused on High Energy Hip Hop and Pom to a higher level of dance and technique.

Under Maple's direction, the squad has won four American Dance/Drill Team School National Championships in Div. I and IA Dance and also won the ADTS Collegiate Academic Championship is 2007.  SFA has continued to rise in rankings at the NCA/NDA Collegiate National Championship placing fifth in 2006, third and winning the Innovative Choreography Award in 2007, second in 2008, and first in 2009 in Div. I Dance.
Maple has produced sixteen NDA Collegiate All-Americans over the past five seasons.  Those members include: Sarah Drolet - 2005 and 2006; Heather Butler - 2006; Lauren Spain - 2006, 2007, and 2008; Kim Case - 2007; Mysha Corb - 2007 and 2008; Kelsey Moor - 2007 and 2008; Stephen Bess - 2009; Rachel Billingsly - 2009; Kara Cross - 2009; Mysha Corb - 2009; and Merit Goodman - 2009.  Two members under his direction have been awarded the NDA Top Gun Turn Winners: Lauren Spain in 2006 and Kelsey Moor in 2008 and one NDA Top Gun Leaps Winner: Mysha Corbin 2009.

Maple is the former Director of the Dayton High School Dazzlers Dance Team and the originator of the Dayton Sensations Dance Team at his former studio Dance Etc. in Dayton, TX.  After directing for five years, Maple decided to go back to school and auditioned for and made the MCC Dance Co. at McLennan Community College in Waco, TX. While there, he helped the Dance Co. to place second nationally in 2003 and eighth in 2004 as a member and officer of the team.  In 2005 the team placed second as he was the Assistant Director to Sandy Hinton.  Maple left McLennan Community College with an Associate of the Arts degree and moved to Nacogdoches to become the Coach of the SFA Pom Squad at Stephen F. Austin State University.  Maple has a Bachelor's Degree in Kinesiology and Art from Stephen F. Austin State University. 

Maple is a Choreographer, Head Instructor, and Certified Adjudicator for the National Dance Alliance (NDA) in Dallas, Texas.  He has been a member of the Texas Dance Educators Association (TDEA) since 2000.
